Human Design System
Your profile is the costume your design wears in the world. It describes how you learn, how you relate, and what role you are here to play — drawn from two of the six hexagram lines in the I Ching that underpin every gate in your chart.
In Human Design, the profile is a two-number combination — like 1/3 or 5/2 — derived from the hexagram lines of your Personality Sun (conscious) and Design Sun (unconscious). The first number is what you recognize in yourself. The second operates below the surface, driving patterns you may not see but others do.
The six lines come from the I Ching hexagram structure: Line 1 (Investigator), Line 2 (Hermit), Line 3 (Martyr), Line 4 (Opportunist), Line 5 (Heretic), and Line 6 (Role Model). Not every combination exists — there are exactly 12 profiles, each with a distinct way of processing experience and relating to others.
Your profile does not change. It is fixed at birth, built into the gates that define your chart. Understanding it reveals why you approach life the way you do — why some people need to research everything before moving, why others are called out of their natural retreat, why some learn only through direct experience.
The 1/3 profile in Human Design combines deep investigation with hands-on trial and error. Learn your role, relationships, career themes, and shadow patterns.
The 1/4 profile combines deep investigation with influence through personal networks. Learn how your foundation-building meets your gift for connection.
The 2/4 profile carries natural talent that must be called out by others. Learn how your hermit nature and network orientation shape your life.
The 2/5 profile combines natural talent with a projected reputation for practical solutions. Learn how your hermit gifts meet the heretic's universal call.
The 3/5 profile learns through trial and error and is projected upon as a practical problem-solver. Learn how experimentation meets reputation in your design.
The 3/6 profile lives in three distinct phases — experimenting, observing, then becoming the role model. Learn how your trial-and-error nature matures into wisdom.
The 4/1 profile influences through networks while carrying a deep unconscious foundation. Learn how your social gifts and fixed knowledge base shape your life.
The 4/6 profile influences through networks and matures into a role model across three life phases. Learn how your connections and wisdom unfold over time.
The 5/1 profile carries a projected reputation for practical solutions backed by deep unconscious investigation. Learn how projection and foundation shape your life.
The 5/2 profile projects practical solutions while carrying hidden natural talent. Learn how your public reputation and private gifts interact.
The 6/2 profile matures through three life phases while carrying natural gifts that must be called out. Learn how your role model authority and hermit talents work.
The 6/3 profile lives three life phases with a constant undercurrent of experimentation. Learn how your role model maturity and trial-and-error nature interact.
Your profile combines with your type, authority, and defined centers to create a design that is entirely yours. Pull up your chart and see how the lines play out.
